I CAN do better!

The other day I was reading this post and it brought tears to my eyes from the overwhelming emotion I felt inside. It felt like she was saying what I had been too ashamed to admit that I have been feeling. And it got me thinking...
There are so many things I need/want to do better. I looked at Aubrey yesterday and realized that I'm not exactly sure when she last had a full-fledged, in the tub, bath. I wipe her down everyday with baby wipes and my intentions are to bathe her every other day, but life gets in the way. And it makes me feel guilty. It seems like when Ethan was a baby, our lives were much less hectic and we had so much more attention to devote to him. For example, I can tell you with 100% conviction that he was bathed every other day, in a tub, with soap and water; he wore pajamas to bed every night; the house was clean; dishes and laundry were done every day.
Nowadays: well, I did do laundry the other day (and it had been 2 weeks before that), BUT it is still in the laundry basket waiting to be folded. I haven't washed dishes since Tuesday. The baby needs a bath. There are many nights she goes to bed in either just a diaper or whatever she was wearing that day. I spent an entire weekend cleaning, vacuuming, dusting, and now you can't even tell. I'm 2 weeks behind on my school work. I have a coffee table on my patio that is half-stripped and has been sitting outside (getting drowned by the rain) for a week and a half. And I don't even know where to start.
And I feel so guity about it all. I honestly feel like I'm failing. Does this happen to every family when additional children are put in the mix, or am I just that horrible at being a wife/mother?
As I lay in bed last night, trying to get my brain to stop running so I could sleep, I made a promise to myself that I WILL do better. Starting today, things will be different! And so far, they are. I have spent the morning catching up on school work, and now I'm headed to the kitchen to tackle the dishes.

You Capture-Photopgrapher's Choice

This week's You Capture is photographer's choice. My mind went wild with excitement. My husband has this really great Canon Rebel 35mm that I wanted to take a bunch of pictures with. I went to the store and got great film (I wasn't even sure if they still make film), had all of these ideas about what I was going to capture, and all of the different things I wanted to try out...Then he broke the bad news-he lent it to the art teacher at the high school where he teaches and the guy is still using it. Well, crap! So this is what I got with the point & shoot...

This kid is WAY to cool! He loves to have his picture taken. Anytime I bust out the camera, he's front and center, shouting at me to take pictures of him. Then, naturally, he wants to check himself out.

It's fall in Texas.  You know what that means...Football Fridays! This is what our Friday nights will consist of for the next 7 weeks.

And this is a sneak peek into what I did with my weekend. There is a detailed post about this little endeavor to come...

Have a great weekend and hope to see you next week!

Bad News

Sorry everyone. No You Capture this week.
I did get some pictures, though not as many as I wanted. However, with the tropical storm that blew through, and class tonight, I completely ran out of time to get photos uploaded and a post put together.
Next week's challenge is Photographer's Choice, so it should be a fun and interesting post!

You Capture: Mornings

Hi! I know I've been absent for a while, but I'm back with a really interesting post. I started reading a great blog written by a great lady who thought of a little concept called You Capture. Each week a new challenge is posted and as a participant I am supposed to keep my camera on me so I can be ready to snap pictures that fall within that challenge category. I'll leave a link at the bottom that will explain it much better than I can.
Anyways, this week's challenge was "Mornings." So every morning I had my camera ready, and this is what I got:

This is how she sleeps. Yes, I know I am the luckiest woman in the world.

So after the sleeping angel wakes up, always all smiles and, after a recent development, now standing up in her crib! (which I was unable to get a picture of), it's time for some breakfast:

Holding her bottle is also a recent development. I like the convenience, but I dislike how quickly she is growing up on me.

Tuesday morning also required a bath because we ran out of time Monday night, and she had a lunch date so a bath was imperative.

I also included the following photo of her playing with her feet while eating breakfast, because I think they are adorable and I love the way she is always playing with them.

I hope you enjoyed a little peek at my mornings! Follow the link below to view others' mornings and learn how you can share your own "You Capture" moments.

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Earlier Cody went to get me a blizzard (I'm such a spoiled shit, but that's a blog for another time), but he only got one because he thought E would be asleep by the time he got home.
Well, when he walked in E automatically thought the ice cream was for him. He pouted and whined the whole time I ate it, even going so far as to tell me that it was for boys because there was a picture of a guy on the cup.
I was a nice mommy, though, and saved him a few bites at the end. (I also kept offering him bites while I was eating) when he was done he handed me the cup, and I started whining that he ate my ice cream just to mess with him. You know what that turd said to me..."What?? I was hungry!!"
Where does he come up with this stuff??? He's way too smart for a 3 yr old.

Sewing Fail

So awhile back I had this BRILLIANT idea that I was going to sew Aubrey's clothes so that she could have tons of adorable outfits at a fraction of the cost. I got the patterns, the material, the sewing machine, I was ready to go. WRONG! Apparently sewing is easier said than done. DAMN!
I was having a smart day and decided I needed to practice on scrap material before I jumped right in. Good thing I was using my noggin. Something went way wrong and the thread broke. Yes, B.R.O.K.E. No, I don't know why. Of course, that could be because I had NO. IDEA. WHAT. I. WAS. DOING.
Think I might just file this one in the FAIL folder and find a seamstress. What am I going to do about the stuff I bought to sew burp rags and things for my cousin's baby?? Maybe I can do applique on the onesies...how do you do that???
**Side-note: my MIL thought it was such a great idea. She told me I could even make Ethan's clothes. Ummm, no. Frilly little girl outfits=cute, boys t-shirts=not so much.
